Atlanta International School (AIS) will be awarded the PASCH designation, making it a partner school of the Bundesrepublik Deutschland (Federal Republic of Germany) in an official ceremony on the school’s campus on December 5.

The award will be presented by representatives of the German Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany and received by students in the school’s German language program. AIS is the first full-day school in Georgia to receive the distinction.

“Atlanta International School is proud to be recognized as a partner school by the German government,” said Headmaster Kevin Glass. “This is definitive testimony to the quality of our entire school program as well as our German language teachers and students from pre-kindergarten through Grade 12.” The ceremony will take place in conjunction with the Weihnachtsmarkt, the school’s popular annual German Christmas Market, which features traditional food, culture and entertainment.

“Due to the strong and increasing presence of German companies in the Metro Atlanta region, German language proficiency is an important asset for the professional career of today’s students. AIS has been serving the Atlanta region by offering a German program since it was founded,” said Sönke Lorenz, Deputy Consul, Atlanta, German Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany.

“For everyone looking for a German language education for their kids, AIS has a proven record of excellence. In recognition for this endeavor, Germany has been supporting AIS continuously and now has chosen AIS to become one of only 1,000 PASCH schools worldwide,” he said.

The initiative “Schools: Partners for the Future” (PASCH) was launched in 2008 by German Federal Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Stein Meier. The program’s goal is to build a worldwide network of partner schools through which to foster young people’s interest and enthusiasm for modern Germany and its society.

Atlanta International School (AIS) offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) to more than 900 U.S. and international students from four-year-old kindergarten to grade 12. By delivering a rigorous academic program combined with world-class standards in language acquisition within an open-minded, intercultural environment, AIS prepares students to succeed in a globally connected world. AIS is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), the Council of International Schools (CIS), and the International Baccalaureate (IB). The school is located in the heart of Buckhead at 2890 North Fulton Drive.
